The Wave is reporting that the Cultural and Historic Affairs Committee is seeking summer volunteers to serve as museum docents.
Anyone interested in volunteering should attend an orientation seminar next week in the foyer of Town Hall, located at the intersection of Garfield Parkway and Route 1.
From The Wave:
This year, the committee decided to change its hours of operation. Docents will be available from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturdays in May and June and from 5-7 p.m. Wednesday during July and August.
“Particularly during the summertime when a lot of people are here, we have docents to sit in the museum to keep (it) open,” said Councilwoman Carol Olmstead, who also serves as chair of the CHAC. “We decided that the weekends are kind of busy and people are arriving and leaving and maybe during the week would be a better time.”
An orientation has been scheduled for 2 p.m. April 23 to give potential volunteers time to get acquainted with the exhibits and the museum, Olmstead said.
