The 29th annual 4th of July Celebration in Bethany Beach is here!
The festivities kick-off at noon with the parade, which is themed this year “Come Celebrate our Nation’s Birthday, Bethany Beach Style.” The parade will also honor the formation of the Delaware Militia in the Revolutionary War. The The 287th Army Band of the Delaware Army National Guard, which evolved from that very militia, will march at the head of the parade, with Major General Frank Vavalla, Adjutant General of the Delaware National Guard leading the way as the Grand Marshal.
Other events include:
- The 24th annual Horseshoe Throwing Contest, sponsored by Mr. Joe Lank, held at the conclusion of the parade. It will be located at the south west corner of the Christian Church Grounds.
- The 3rd annual Blueberry Pie Eating contest, sponsored by Ruthie’s Bethany Bakery, will be held at the conclusion of the parade. It will be located adjacent to the Christian Church Building. Children and adults ages 5-80 are invited to participate.
- Award ceremony will be held 7:15 p.m. at the Band Stand
- The Milford Community Band Concert starting at 7:30 p.m. at the Band Stand.
