The Bethany Beach First Responders Sprinternational Triathlon-Duathlon, a USA Triathlon-sanctioned event, is set for Sunday, Sept. 23, at 7:30 a.m., and benefits the first responders of the Bethany Beach Volunteer Fire Company, with options to also support Autism Speaks, Make-A-Wish of the Mid-Atlantic and Share-A-Lot.
The inaugural triathlon-duathlon features a 1000-meter swim/beach run (0.62 miles), 30k bike (18.5 miles), and 7k run (4.35 miles) on a course covering much of Bethany’s beach area and surrounding towns.
Packet pick-up festivities get under way Saturday, Sept. 22, with the Sports & Health Expo featuring the latest in health and multi-sport products and services. Also, a pasta dinner will be held at the Bethany Beach Volunteer Fire Company from 4-8 p.m. The dinner is open to the general public and costs $12 for adults and $5 for children.
