19-year-old Brianna Morgan took home her first title in International Tennis Federation (ITF) Pro Circuit play, after defeating the event’s No. 1 seed Jessica Moore in a 7-6 (3), 6-3 victory at the 3rd annual ResortQuest Pro Women’s Open at Sea Colony on Sunday.

Morgan, from Beverly Hills, California, completed an amazing stretch of play, which saw the unseeded and unranked teen take out the tournament’s top three seeds.

Brianna Morgan, 19, captured her first singles title on the ITF Pro Circuit tour on Sunday at the ResortQuest Pro Women’s Open at Sea Colony

Sunday’s match was a battle between the fresh upstart and the young but tournament-tested veteran, as Morgan took the court against the 22-year-old Australian, Moore, who is currently ranked 385 in the world.

A tightly contested clash in the early going, the two went back and forth in the first game with neither taking over a two-point lead. Moore held the 6-5 advantage and looked to bring it home until Morgan stormed back to tie the set at six and ultimately broke away to take the tie-break and the 7-6 set victory. It took an hour and 40 minutes to decide the first set.

From there, it was clear Morgan had found her groove and got out to a 5-2 lead in the second set. Moore gave one last rally, taking the next game but Morgan would not be denied and closed it out for the 6-3 set win.

Morgan, a sophomore at the University of Florida, is fresh off of a solid freshman campaign in which she was named All-SEC second team and All-SEC freshman team.

Moore, who has competed in the Australian Open and the U.S. Open, was looking to win her fifth ITF Pro Circuit singles event and looked dominant the early rounds, winning her first three matches in straight sets.

But it was Morgan’s day, becoming the third different winner of the event, which this year featured 64 pros from eight different countries on four continents competing for a share of $10,000 in prize money.
