Check out the Delaware Wave newspaper and their recent story highlighting all the fun attractions along the shore to add a little variety to your vacation. While we all love a good beach day, there’s plenty of fun to be had off the sand too!

REHOBOTH BEACH — Sometimes a day at the beach, just isn’t enough.

Whether you want to keep cool at a water park, enjoy a spin on the carousel or get your adrenaline pumping on the racetrack, towns along the coast offer several amusement parks for residents and visitors alike.

Many of these attractions, which have been around for decades, it’s a tradition for families to spend at least one day enjoy the rides, slides and go-karts.

“There’s a lot of people that come to Rehoboth just to come here, they love us so much,” said Robert Kriner, general manager of Midway Speedway Park in Rehoboth Beach. “They enjoy our close family oriented park.”

On the days, where the mercury raises into the 90s, the water parks are great ways to keep cool while entertaining the whole family. Young ones can enjoy the pools or lazy rivers with Mom, and the older kids can try out all the slides with Dad.

Rides, such Ferris wheels, are nostalgic for many people, which is why a trip to the Ocean City Pier are must for some families, according to Dean Langrall, director of sales and marketing for Jolly Roger amusement park.

The go-kart tracks are also fun for the whole family. With several tracks along the coast, there’s a variety of courses, different size cars, opportunities for a parent and child to ride together or siblings to race each other.

From Ocean City to Rehoboth Beach, the resorts offer many opportunities for fun.

“It’s a great way to spend some extra time on vacation,” Langrall said. “It’s just a lot of families enjoying themselves.”
