This weekend, the town of Millville will come together for a day filled with family fun.

The fifth annual Millville Great Pumpkin Festival will bring thousands to town Saturday.

For Matt Amerling, town clerk of Millville, it’s the first year he’s helped organize the event, but it’s one he and his family went to before working for the town.

“It’s a chance for the community to come out and get together after most of the summer crowds have gone home,” he said. “People get together and have good old-fashioned family fun.”

New this year is a cornhole tournament, complementing myriad family friendly events, including crafts, pony rides, a petting zoo, a pumpkin pie eating contest, pumpkin decorating and face painting. Live music will be provided by 33 1/3.

“It’s something that gives the kids, especially, fun things to do,” Amerling said. “It’s a chance for everyone to have fun.”
