Singles and doubles tournament will bring rising stars of the tennis world to the seaside resort’s acclaimed tennis center

Bethany Beach, DE, November 21, 2011 – Professional tennis returns to Bethany Beach for the second annual ResortQuest Pro Women’s Open at Sea Colony, to be held June 10-17, 2012, on the clay courts at the Sea Colony Tennis Center, located south of Bethany Beach on West Way Drive, just west of Kent Avenue.

Again sponsored by ResortQuest® by Wyndham Vacation Rentals and the U. S. Tennis Association (USTA), the singles and doubles tournament will draw nationally and internationally ranked women tennis players seeking to improve their world rankings and claim their share of the $10,000 in prize money. Up to 64 women will compete for a spot in the tournament’s 32-player draw. Qualifying matches will be held June 10-11, with the main draw beginning on Tuesday, June 12. Doubles play also starts on June 12. Admission to the tournament is free.

“We are honored and excited to host the event again,” said Thomas Johnston, Sea Colony’s tennis director. “Feedback from USTA and tennis players was very positive and has increased Sea Colony’s reputation as an internationally recognized tennis destination.”

The second-year event is expected to attract additional tennis enthusiasts to Bethany Beach and Sea Colony.

“Early June marks the start of the summer season at Sea Colony, and this tournament is certain to be a highlight of our 2012 season,” Johnston said.
